Meet Cassie
So, Who Am I Anyway?
Grab a drink and take a seat... I’ll tell you how I got here
Hey girl, hi friend! I’m Cassandra, but most people call me Cassie.
I’ve always been someone who likes to figure things out. If I see something interesting, my first thought is usually, “I wonder if I could make that?”
That curiosity has led me through crochet projects, creative adventures, learning new skills, and plenty of “what am I doing next?” moments.
Somewhere along the way, those pieces came together and became Torisandra Creates — my little corner of the internet where I share the things I’m making, learning, and figuring out along the way.
The Story Behind Torisandra Creates
Torisandra is a name that has followed me through every season of my life.
It started as a combination of my name, Cassandra, and my first daughter’s name, Tori.
At the time, I never would have called it a “brand.” It was simply a name that represented so much happiness and an important chapter of my life.
Somehow, this little made-up name stayed. Through business attempts, creative adventures, and plenty of “what am I doing next?” moments, Torisandra remained.
And now it has become a place where I get to share all the things I love.
I’ve Always Been a Maker
The joy of making something from nothing
There is something about taking an idea floating around in my head and turning it into something I can hold in my hands that brings me a sense of calm. And honestly?
There is nothing quite like someone asking:
“Where did you get that?”
and being able to say:
“I made it.”
Creativity doesn't have to be perfect. It just has to begin.
The Creative Detective Side
I'm a researcher, problem solver, and self-proclaimed creative detective. If you've ever walked through a store and thought, "I could probably make that," congratulations... you're my kind of people.
I believe the internet is the biggest classroom in the world—you just have to be willing to enroll. When I want to learn something, I don't stop at one tutorial. I fall down the rabbit hole. I watch way too many videos, compare different techniques, experiment, make mistakes, and eventually piece everything together in a way that makes sense to me.
One of my favorite things is discovering creators who make learning feel fun instead of intimidating. The ones who encourage creativity over perfection. The ones who remind you that there isn't only one "right" way to create. When I find those hidden gems, I love sharing them with others. You'll find many of my favorite resources and creators throughout my blog because good teachers deserve to be celebrated.
I never attended college, but I've spent a lifetime teaching myself new skills and helping others learn along the way. From crochet and crafting to blogging, Canva, digital design, websites, and whatever creative rabbit hole catches my attention next, I've learned that curiosity is one of the greatest tools you'll ever own.
The world really is your classroom. Sometimes the hardest part isn't learning—it's finding the person who teaches in a way that clicks with your brain. When you finally find that creator, everything changes. Suddenly the thing that felt impossible starts making sense.
That's the kind of experience I hope to create here.
This isn't a place where everything is polished or perfect. It's where I share what I'm learning, what I'm creating, what worked, what didn't, and the resources that helped me along the way. Expect a little organized chaos, a few laughs at my own expense, and plenty of reminders that progress will always beat perfection.
Because creativity isn't about getting it right the first time...
It's about staying curious long enough to figure it out.
Real Life Happens
Of course, life isn't always neatly organized.
Some days I feel like a cloud of smoke drifting wherever the wind decides to take me. I wonder, "Why does this matter? Why do I need to show up today?"
I work from home, spending my days creating, learning, experimenting, and building something I hope will eventually become a sustainable business. I don't collect a traditional paycheck, and after being let go from two corporate jobs, I decided to stop trying to force myself into a career that never quite fit. Instead, I chose to build one that does.
Has it been easy? Not even a little.
Throw ADHD into the mix and consistency becomes... let's just say we're still negotiating terms. My brain isn't wired to walk in a straight line. It's more like a butterfly flitting from one interesting flower to the next, convinced every new idea is the one that's going to change everything.
Some days that works in my favor.
I dive headfirst into creative rabbit holes, make things, learn things, and somehow accomplish a week's worth of work before lunch.
Other days...
You'll find me curled up in my comfy blue chair, scrolling my phone far longer than I intended, wondering why my brain refuses to cooperate.
And honestly?
That's part of the journey too.
I’m here to learn, experiment, make a few mistakes, and share what I discover along the way. There’s no perfect way to create something new. Sometimes you just have to give it a try and see where the rabbit hole leads.
For years, I thought the goal was to "fix" myself and become one of those perfectly consistent people who color-code their calendars and somehow remember to drink enough water. I've finally accepted that's probably never going to be me—and that's okay.
Instead, my mission has become finding systems that work with my ADHD instead of constantly fighting against it. Systems that leave room for curiosity, creativity, and the little bursts of dopamine that keep me moving forward.
If you've ever started twelve projects before finishing one...
If you've ever disappeared from social media because life got overwhelming...
If you've ever questioned whether you were doing enough...
Welcome.
You're in good company.
Around here, we celebrate progress over perfection, laugh at the chaos when we can, and keep showing up—even if some days showing up looks a little different than we planned.
A New Chapter at 50
Turning 50 didn't mean slowing down—it meant getting curious all over again.
This season of life has brought plenty of surprises, including becoming a self-taught student of my own body as I navigate the ever-changing adventure that is menopause. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. Every woman experiences it differently because every body is different. While I'm not a medical expert, I enjoy researching, experimenting, and sharing what I'm learning in hopes that it helps someone else feel a little less alone.
More than anything, turning 50 has reminded me that it's never too late to reinvent yourself.
This chapter has inspired me to learn new skills, explore UX and digital design, build a website from the ground up, grow as a content creator, and continue nurturing the creativity that has always been part of who I am.
I'm learning, creating, teaching, laughing at my mistakes, and figuring things out one project—and probably one cup of coffee—at a time.
If this journey proves anything, I hope it's this:
You're never too old to learn something new, start over, or surprise yourself with what you're capable of creating.
“There’s no handbook for this part of the journey. I’m learning to enjoy the adventure while I’m still figuring out where the road leads.”
Around Here You’ll Find
Fiber Arts & Creative Projects
I’ve always been a maker at heart. Give me some yarn, a crochet hook, a sewing machine, or a piece of clothing that could use a second chance, and chances are I’m going to wonder, “What could I make with this?” I love the process of taking an idea, an old garment, or a handful of supplies and turning it into something completely different. Sometimes it works beautifully. Sometimes it becomes a lesson. Either way, I’m usually having fun.
Crochet is one of the places I find myself coming back to again and again, but my creative rabbit holes don’t stop there. I love fiber arts, upcycling clothing, sewing, handmade projects, creative DIYs, and experimenting with different techniques. I’m interested in the how behind things—how something is constructed, how a technique works, and whether there might be another way to approach it. I’m not particularly interested in doing something perfectly just because that’s the way it has always been done.
This is where I’ll share the projects I’m making, the techniques I’m learning, the creative resources I discover, and the things that make me want to grab my supplies and try something new. Some projects may be crochet. Others might involve sewing, upcycling, crafting, or a completely unexpected creative detour. Think of this space as a record of what happens when curiosity meets creativity—and I decide to see where it takes me.My “Lazy Lady” Crafting Approach
Because sometimes the hot glue gun wins.
Beautiful doesn’t have to mean complicated.
Midlife Adventures
Getting older has a funny way of making you question a few things. Who am I now? What do I actually want? What happens when the life you thought you were building doesn’t quite look like the life you’re living? At 50, I’m discovering that there isn’t a handbook for this part of the journey—and honestly, I’m okay with that. I’d rather figure it out as I go.
This chapter includes plenty of change. I’m navigating menopause, rethinking what work and success mean to me, exploring new creative paths, and learning how to make room for the things that genuinely bring me joy. Some days I feel completely inspired and ready to take on the world. Other days, I’m wondering what happened to my motivation and why I walked into the kitchen in the first place. Both can be true.
Here, I’ll share the honest side of life after 50—the discoveries, frustrations, funny moments, questions, and little victories that come with changing and growing. We’ll talk about menopause, creativity, self-discovery, reinvention, and finding your way when you don’t have the whole map. There’s no perfect version of this chapter waiting for me. I’m learning to enjoy the adventure while I’m still figuring out where the road leads.Learning New Skills
Because you are never too old to start something new.
Let’s Create Something Together
One of my favorite parts of creating isn’t just making something—it’s sharing the process with other people. There’s something different about sitting around a table with a ball of yarn, a creative idea, and a few people who are willing to give something new a try. You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to be curious.
As Torisandra Creates grows, I’m looking forward to bringing more of that experience into the local community here in Flower Mound, Texas. That may mean crochet classes, creative workshops, fiber arts gatherings, upcycling projects, or simply getting together to learn something new. I love teaching what I know, sharing the resources that have helped me, and creating an environment where nobody has to worry about getting it “right” the first time.
